What is Global Heat Reduction Initiative ?
Did you know that more than half of all global warming isn’t caused by CO₂, but by climate super pollutants like methane, black carbon, nitrous oxide, and HFCs? Just by tackling these, we can avoid 0.6°C of warming by 2050, while cutting CO₂ would save only 0.1°C. If done at scale, we’ll start seeing results within the next ten years.
Now, based on a groundbreaking, peer-reviewed scientific approach that we call Total Climate Accountingᵀᴹ, the Global Heat Reduction Initiative (GHR) is offering organizations the tools to deliver on that ambition.
What is Total Climate Accountingᵀᴹ?
Total Climate Accountingᵀᴹ enables companies, cities and organizations to help slow the rate of warming now by measuring all drivers of atmospheric heat, including reflectivity (albedo) and climate super pollutants. We offer powerful tools that increase return on climate investments, including Total Climate Footprint™, Registry Projects and Credits, and Advisory Services.
- Registry
- Footprinting
- Advisory and Advocacy
The GHR Registry offers Heat Reduction Credits (HRCs) that specifically target super pollutants. Like all carbon credits, each credit represents 1 metric tonne of CO₂e. Unlike other credits on the market, HRCs also include verified atmospheric heat reduction data measured over any timeframe (e.g. 5, 15, 25 years). This data allows buyers, for the first time, to compare the near-term climate impact of their credit investments and prioritize heat reduction between now and 2050.
GHR’s Total Climate Footprintᵀᴹ offers everything you get from your carbon footprint, plus additional heat impact over target-aligned timeframes (2030, 2040, 2050...) to drive more strategic mitigation investment decisions and greater impact.
Work with us to identify the most impactful climate mitigation investments for your organization based on near-term heat insights.
